Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception, she has been in every season of Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February, 2020. Her biggest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children from a working-class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family depended sometimes on the food provided by an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran remembers her fatheras a man who sometimes drank too much and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling, later learning that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in several courses during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D. Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated, speaker writer, author and television show host. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was a student at a Catholic primary school within her area and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
