Catherine Anne O'Hara OC (born on March 4, 1954)is a Canadian-American actress as well as a comedian and writer. O'Hara has been the recipient of many distinctions, including a Genie Award and a Golden Globe Award. O'Hara also won two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Canadian Screen Awards, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2018, O'Hara was appointed an Officer of Canada. She also received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Medal in 2020. O'Hara's first recognition as an actress when she was part of The Second City improv comedy troupe in Toronto in 1974. Dan Aykroyd and John Candy were also in her main cast on the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara, Candy, and Dan Aykroyd started work in Second City Television's sketch comedy program (1976-1984). O'Hara received high praise for her comedy acting and writing abilities, earning her the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writer for an episode of a Variety Series in 1982. In 2022, O'Hara was added to the new Second City artistic advisory board which was headed by Stephen Colbert, along with Steve Carell, Dwayne Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Peter Murrieta, Suzy Nakamura, Sam Richardson, Jeff Richmond, Jason Sudeikis, and Robin Thede.
